This cottage style baking center by Right at Home Interiors owner and designer, Keely Hersh, features custom window treatments, a farmhouse sink, and custom cabinets, among other design elements. The journey of creating this beautiful space included remodeling, interior design, and decorating skills. Let’s see how Keely brought the space together.

Before: A Blank Space

Elements of a Full Cottage Style Baking Center Design

Electrical Wiring and New Plumbing Allows for a Functional Baking Center

Here is the wall open with the new electrical wires for the oven and outlets. Keely and her contractors also plumbed the wall for a farmhouse sink.

Custom Cabinets Provided the Foundation for the Baking Center

Test fitting the new custom cabinets was an exciting day. Bill Mott built the cabinets to my specks. He is great carpenter and fun to work with.

Marble Countertops Are a Useful and Beautiful Component

Here you see Stokes Granite and Stone installing the beautiful marble counter tops.

A Custom Backsplash Brings a Unique Look to the Cottage Style Baking Center

Next, Keely did a practice layout of her intricate tile back-splash on the deck to get it just right.

This was a challenging backsplash to install in every way, but she was very methodical and paid attention to the pattern to get it just right.

A Combination of Textures and Patterns is a Key to Gorgeous Design

The lay out turned out perfect even into the corner and under the window.

Quite a change to this once blank wall! This beautiful center will allow for many fun baking projects.

Accessories and Decorations Add a Fun, Personal Twist

For the area over the oven, Keely wanted it to be cute and a fun display area for baking stands and pie plates.

A Hidden Electrical Outlet Allows for Function Without Disrupting Beauty

The above photo features a hidden outlet strip. This design choice makes for a functional baking center without visible outlets. The choice makes all the difference in letting the backsplash details shine through.

Dark Hardware and Details Provide Needed Contrast to the Baking Center

Bill Mott built the perfect style shelves to hold these pretty jars filled with baking supplies. The little round black balls following the curves of the shelf brackets are special iron nails that Keely knew would be a fun detail.
